1. DEATH SENTENCE: Jurors sentence Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death for Boston Marathon bombing
A federal jury sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death Friday for his part in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that left three people dead, and for the murder of an MIT police officer as he and his brother attempted their getaway.
Tsarnaev showed no emotion as he learned his fate and stood with his hands clasped in front of him, his head slightly bowed. He faces death by lethal injection.
“My mother and I think think that now he will go away and we will be able to move on,” said victim Sydney Corcoran after the verdict. “Justice. In his own words, ‘an eye for an eye.'”

2. The Amtrak Tragedy
Our hearts go out to the victims of the fatal crash that occurred this week in Philadelphia. Sources reported that the Amtrak train was traveling at more than 100 miles an hour. The normal speed limit is approximately half that fast…To date seven people have been reported dead and 30 people were hospitalized, some in critical condition.
Now investigators are reporting that the crash may have been avoidable
The existing signal system can be set up to prevent a train from exceeding speed limits. People familiar with Amtrak’s signal system said speed-control measures used elsewhere by the railroad could have prevented Tuesday’s crash, which also injured more than 200.

3. Isis Update : Islamic State Releases Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Audio Message
We finally got to hear from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi himself…the leader of The Islamic State group BEIRUT (AP). They released a 35-minute recorded message from him on Thursday featuring his voice and a very disturbing and aggressive message addressing all Muslims.
The speaker references the Saudi-led air campaign against Shiite rebels in Yemen, which began on March 26, and harshly criticizes the Saudi royal family.
“Islam was never a religion of peace. Islam is the religion of fighting,” he said. “No one should believe that the war that we are waging is the war of the Islamic State. It is the war of all Muslims, but the Islamic State is spearheading it. It is the war of Muslims against infidels.”
“O Muslims go to war everywhere. It is the duty of every Muslim,” the speaker said.
The 35-minute audio message, which quoted several verses from the Quran, was released with written English, Russian, Turkish, French and German translations. Read More…
