Well, it’s been about a week since the pathetic framework agreement was signed and we’re now committed to making a full agreement by June.
Are both sides happy?
That depends on who you ask. If you ask me, and most of our staff, you’d hear “no.” We still don’t understand why the current administration insists on negotiating with states harboring and supporting terrorism.
What’s even worse than us not being pleased? How about Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei not seeming too excited or committed? Yep, that is how he’s publicly conveying his stance… he basically doesn’t care and thinks “there has been nothing done and there is nothing binding” about the framework agreement.
Not very surprising that within days of seemingly making progress one of Iran’s most influential leaders is undermining what has been done so far. He addressed his stance during a speech, which also included comments on Islamic Law and Yemen. Then, to make his opinions even more clear and spread them further, he posted them on his website after his television appearance.
My favorite quote so far has been “I was never optimistic about the talks with the U.S.” Ironically, we agree and feel the same way!
